Good Friends Charlotte Announces 33rd-Annual Holiday Luncheon

Women’s Organization Plans Record Fundraising Goal to Serve In-Need Community

Charlotte, N.C., July 18, 2019Good Friends Charlotte, a women’s non-profit organization supporting local individuals and families with financial resources to improve lives and inspire hope, has announced its 33rd-annual holiday luncheon on Thursday, December 12 from 11:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Charlotte Convention Center. With nearly 1,800 women in attendance last year, the organization would like to surpass the more than $500,000 raised in 2018. Registration opens November 1 for all Charlotte-area women.  Attendance is free, with the opportunity to make a financial contribution.

“This luncheon is the culmination of twelve months and many, many hours of planning and providing critical support to those in need,” said Board President Sonja Nichols. “Not only is this the signature event for our organization, but it has become holiday tradition for close to 2,000 Charlotte-area women to gather together and support one common mission – serving our community.”

Since 1987, Good Friends – the unofficial sister organization of Good Fellows – has been gaining momentum, as the critical and daily needs for the area’s  at-risk neighbors continue to grow. The organization works with more than 80 agency partners to provide immediate financial support, in areas that these referring agencies’ missions do not, such as covering utility payments, mental health counseling, home appliances, door locks and repairs for domestic survivors, summer camp grants, and other important necessities.

“Knowing the support we have in the community – especially with like-minded women – encourages us to continue to raise the bar,” said Luncheon Chair Sabrina Brathwaite. “We’re extremely proud of the work we’ve done, and we look forward to serving many more of our neighbors."
