Camp Bell + Good Friends
Summer Camp 2018
Good Friends is a proud sponsor of Camp Bell. BELL Summer is a full-day immersive learning experience that combines academic instruction with fun hands-on enrichment activities, field trips, mentorship, and community service projects. The program is designed to help scholars improve their academic and social-emotional skills and increase their self-confidence in order to enter school in the fall prepared and ready to excel.
A day at BELL Summer starts with a healthy breakfast and community-building events. Scholars then transition into classrooms, where certified teachers and trained teaching assistants lead small-group instruction in literacy and math. BELL uses research-based curricula aligned to rigorous standards, and apply data from computer adaptive assessments to differentiate instruction according to scholars’ unique learning needs.
After lunch, scholars rotate through a series of enrichment courses and activities focused on topics such as STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), creative arts, and health & exercise. Examples of courses include robotics, digital music production, creative writing, drama, tennis, character development, and financial literacy.
Fridays include field trips to local museums, universities, parks, or other fun destinations, as well as guest speakers and community service projects.
BELL has adapted its core summer learning model to target specific grade levels and subjects. For example, the READy Scholars model is designed to boost the grade-level reading skills of elementary school scholars. Other programs focus on serving dual-language learners and middle school scholars. Click here to learn more about BELL Summer outcomes.
